Going Home

The doctor or nurse will discuss with you when you will be able to go home. During this exit interview, various matters will be discussed, such as:

  • the use of medication
  • your diet
  • if necessary, a follow-up to your treatment.

You will be given an appointment card for your next visit to the doctor at the outpatient department.

Your family doctor will receive a letter informing him or her about the course of your  admission, and whether or not you will receive further treatment.

Home Care
You may still require care after being discharged from hospital.
The sort of care may vary considerably: from complex medical care to a few hours of domestic help.

There is a special department in the Albert Schweitzer Hospital which arranges the required care in your home: the Transfer Unit. If necessary, the nurse will engage the services of this unit.
